Description: This article presents a scientifically grounded framework for conducting hydromorphological monitoring of surface water bodies in Ukraine, specifically rivers. It details the structure and application of a standardized survey protocol developed by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Institute in alignment with the EU Water Framework Directive. The protocol includes five thematic blocks covering general site data, channel and floodplain characteristics, catchment parameters, and hydrological regime. It serves as a mandatory tool for state monitoring agencies and supports the implementation of integrated water resource management at the basin level.
