Description: This article presents a comprehensive assessment of the impact of amateur (recreational) fishing on the ichthyofauna of Ukraine’s inland waters, with a case study of the Kakhovka Reservoir. The authors examine catch volumes, species and age composition, and differences between recreational and commercial fishing. Data collected over nearly a decade are analyzed to estimate the fishing pressure exerted by amateur fishers and its implications for fish population sustainability. The paper proposes a unified methodology for monitoring recreational fishery and introduces coefficients for estimating amateur catches in relation to commercial yields.
